Powiśle Project

In the academic year 2017/2018, the Culture Animation specialisation was executing a novel training programme focused on the Powiśle district – the venue of ongoing and future activities carried out under the Multi-year Programme for the Development of the University of Warsaw, and, at the same time, one of the most dynamically changing districts in Warsaw.

As part of the Powiśle Project, students conducted creative research of the district, studying it from the perspectives of social, material, visual and audio nature of the district with the use of contemporary art strategies.

Workshops and internships comprising the Powiśle Project are conducted as Field Workshops held partly beyond the University campus, in public space, in contact with the district residents and different users.

They are aimed at undertaking activities aimed at improving the inner integration of the university community and the external integration of the University community with the social environment encompassing both institutions operating in the district and its residents.

The Powiśle Project addresses the issues that are the subject matter of the Multi-year Programme for the Development of the University of Warsaw via activities carried out across realities and communities i.e. the different University departments, residents, and Varsovians from other parts of the city, etc.

The works and projects created during the classes will be presented to the public in June 2018 in the Powiśle district.
